02Specification

Merida is a pair that reads as one piece. Each top is cut from travertine and hollowed into a shallow tray. Its outline is irregular rather than drawn to a rule, and the well is filled with a panel of cast bronze glass left rippled from the mould. A brass frame closes the joint between stone and glass, and a second brass band wraps the top of the plinth, lifting the stone clear of the wood.

The larger table measures 100 × 57 cm and stands 27 cm high; the smaller is 80 × 48 cm at 24 cm, low enough to slide under the first and be drawn out alongside it. Both plinths are solid oak, shaped to follow the top above them. Made to order in Portugal, with the stone, glass tone and wood chosen for the room.
